[Quick Tip] Mother's Day
There's nothing I love more than a splendid Mother's Day brunch with my kids but experience has taught me that they and their father will ask me on the Saturday before..."Where do you want to go for Mother's Day?"
This is pretty predictable.
But of course all the great brunch places will be booked...again experience has provided me with data to support that fact. So I've got a choice. I can stew. I can imagine that Brad never forgets to make reservations for Angelina. I can call my girlfriends and complain about how only moms seem to be able to think 5 steps and 3 weeks down the road.
Or I can, as I did this year, love them just the way they are and simply pick up the phone to make a reservation at my top choice restaurant and my chosen time, ensuring for myself the lovely day I dream of.

So this year, when they excitedly ask "Where do you want to go?" I can say happily "Chautauqua Dining Hall at noon." I know it will be lovely!
So make that reservation today and share with me your hometown favorite.

[Quick Tips] Graduation Gown
When your graduate picks up the cap and gown, have them take it immediately to a dry cleaner and have them steam out the wrinkles.
This will save the graduation morning realization that the gown has been turned into origami while being hermetically sealed in plastic. When we discovered this, at least we were lucky enough to have a gown that could tolerate low-heat ironing. Other moms told me that some gowns are made of of fabric that can't be ironed.

Spring Clean Your Medicine Cabinet
You’ve tackled the closets, the laundry room and the garage.
Only thing left if is your medicine cabinet. But, what do to with all those old
prescriptions. According to the website Dispose
My Meds, more than 71,000 cases of accidental overdose occurs in children
aged 18 and younger. How about the environmental impact? More than 100
pharmaceuticals have been detected in our water systems. Needless to say, it’s important to be
responsible with the disposal of your over-the-counter and prescription meds.
Enter the Takeaway Environmental Return System; we found
some at the local KingSoopers, onine at Sharps
Compliance, and DisposeMyMeds.org.
Pack up unused and expired medications into these convenient envelopes; they
include return shipping and handling and are processed by law enforcement
officials. Pharmacists will dispose of returned medication into a waste bin
specially designed for storing these unneeded pharmaceuticals.
Now you can get on enjoying your spring with the knowledge that you've
done due diligence!

Garage sale…or not
If you’re like me, those professional garage salers hurt your feelings. I hate how their noses crinkle up like it stinks when they examine the Little People Bus that I diligently cleaned and found even the puppy (you can tell how old am I) . I realize the bartering is a game but I just didn’t get the gene for it. The best part of the day for me was when the local charity came and picked up what hadn’t sold.
So now I skip the garage sale and inspire myself with the image of all of the garage sale items being re-used through thrift stores and charities. The idea of a child happily playing with the bus or an unemployed mom going to an interview in my retired work outfit’ delights me. Another favorite activity is to type into TurboTax my donation and see the little total change – it might be $20 on $100 worth of goods. I’m obviously not a tax attorney, and I might not even be right about the tax benefit being worth it. But I do know it is worth it to get any clutter out of my house that distracts us from our current goals and favorite activities, so it the idea of helping out someone less fortunate and getting a little tax break is all the motivation I need.
